Frogs under the Wheels

I
am not usually a fan of the short story but for C R Krishnan’s Frogs under the
Wheels I have to make an exception. I liked the introductory paragraphs that
explain the origins of each story. Some of these are from the writer’s work
and life experiences; there are ethnic tales re-told and family anecdotes.
A few stories have a ghostly or sexual reference. All are punctuated with the
writer’s opinions on religion, politics, vegetarian food and much else but he
never becomes preachy. I galloped from story to story thinking; ‘just
one more before I settle for sleep’, but I could not sleep till the book was
finished. I wonder if there is a novel in Krish; I know he would certainly be
great dinner guest.
