Spiral Galaxy

by David Dennis, introduction by Kay Green

Spiral Galaxy is a spirally-bound collection of exciting and innovative short stories and poems written by David Dennis.

Volume 1 is ready for sale and Volume 2 will be available shortly.

In the 100 pages of Volume 1, we find tales of selfless bravery, heroism and horror: the SAS soldier’s last message to his mother as he waits to die in Iran; the Para trying to save Iraqi children and the memory of his own children, back at home; the nightmare of the Mau Mau insurgency - a strange twist to this tale. Also in this volume, the Central Proposition – a story previously published on the Internet, about Galileo’s book – lost and found again - containing vital words by Leonardo Da Vinci.

There are many poems too; about Wayland: prayers to the ‘old religion’; the flowering of art; about lover and lovers; political murders; Bloomsbury ‘moments’; temporary insanity; government assassinations and the paradoxes of the human condition. The poems ‘Coffeehead and Battlehorse are included – they were previously published in an Earlyworks Press Poetry Anthology: Digitally Organic.

This volume will entertain, shock, surprise, make you think, and perhaps even tempt you to place an order for Volume 2.

Price: £15.00 inclusive of delivery within UK. Overseas readers should send postage queries via email to: sales@royalpictoria.com

Kay Green wrote:

A few months ago David Dennis leapt onto the stage of our small, cosy writers’ workshop forum and the place all but burst into flames.  Within days he was questioning the story-weavers about plot-lines, interrogating the poets about forms classical and modern, firing questions and ideas at the marketing gang… with his turbo-driven curiosity, extensive knowledge of science, philosophy and current events, and a raw talent that harried him like radio-active ants in a trouser-leg, he covered more ground in six weeks than most people do in their first six years of writing.

Spiral Galaxy is David’s first shot at self-publishing fiction, and it fizzes with the energy I have come to expect from David.  Here are stories that meet the ‘what if..’ criteria of science fiction accompanied by verses inspired by his unfailing curiosity and humour and alongside them a more serious, introspective poetry which gives thought-provoking clues about the destiny of this man in particular, and about mankind in general.

If you are standing at a book fair stall holding a copy of Spiral Galaxy, if you are contemplating a purchase, I advise you to get this copy signed right now.  I predict that, unless he explodes first, David Dennis is going to go far, and he’s going to get there fast!
