The club was founded after a series of discussions in Hastings about what writers and others in independent publishing need. It is a facility for a select group of published authors, illustrators, and others with an interest in high quality publication.

The club’s private forum gives members a secure place to develop and discuss work, share information about writing, publishing and marketing, and socialise among like-minded people. Members attend book fairs and organise launches and other events in the UK and abroad, and enjoy occasional informal meetings.

We wanted to keep the club intimate, serious and focused, so membership is by invitation only. We offer membership to writers shortlisted in Earlyworks Press competitions, to authors who take part in our events, and to anyone recommended by our existing members.

Membership costs £15 per year, or £5 for the first year for competition short-listed authors. Membership offers access to the forum; a showcase for members' work on the website, at events and other marketing activities; an opportunity to contribute to all aspects of Earlyworks Press books, and discounts on Earlyworks Press publications.
